Birthday 2^5

With微博 as a public social app and WeChat as a private one, the only remaining function of blogs might be publishing long-form content. Unfortunately, time has been so tight these years that I genuinely have no time to write long posts. Flipping through my blog, from last year’s birthday to today — a full year — I’ve written only two posts. Makes me wonder if this blog is still worth keeping. Might as well move to a public blogging platform and save the几十 USD annual hosting fee.

For a Computer Science person, 32 might be the real round-number birthday. In binary: 10 0000. By the time I hit 100 0000, depending on the government’s delayed retirement policy, I should be about ready to retire. And the next one after that — probably no “next one” at all.

Here’s my birthday this year in full. Happy and memorable.

My parents sent blessings via WeChat early in the morning. Why is there Pacific Insurance? Clearly spam ads…

My wife hand-drew a birthday gift. It took a Senior Manager several evenings — counted as overtime, this gift isn’t light.

Thanks, friends.

Thanks, advisor. If I can’t submit a satisfactory paper rebuttal before midnight, I’ll be fired. No growth without磨砺.
