Most Frequently Used Programs
Windows XP has this really nice feature — it lists your most frequently used programs in the Start Menu. I took a screenshot today. My commentary:
-
notepad.exe: Goes without saying. Notes, memos — all in Notepad. Quick and convenient. “New Text Document.txt” is the most numerous file type on my laptop.
-
Happyshow: Watch movies, of course with this universal player. Used to use Kingsoft Media Player, but now I find this little tool small, fast, powerful, and free.
-
Word: I’ve become a secretary — writing proposals, summaries, plans, course “mini-papers” — all in Word.
-
Powerpoint: The legendary most powerful “development tool.” I wonder why I use it so much. Isn’t it just for making class slides?
-
Acrobat Reader: Many e-books are in this format. Looks like I still love learning.
-
MSN Messenger: What’s wrong with IM chat? At least I’m not using QQ like the kids.
What’s regrettable: I remember during my Microsoft internship, I’d open Visual Studio.net by pressing the Windows key, then pressing Down three times, then Enter. Now, Visual Studio is still on my machine, but it’s disappeared from the Start Menu… How did this happen? Do I really not need it anymore? Do I still love IT? My biggest fear — that grad school has turned me into a废人 (wasted person) — has it really come true? In just one year, I’ve changed so much. I don’t know whether to be happy or sad.
Maybe this is what they call the confusion of transformation.
