Farewell to 03
Dear All:
By the time you read this email, the C++ final exam is probably over. My mission as C++ TA for this semester has come to an end.
From the C++ TA exam on February 23rd until now, about four months have passed. My literary skills are poor — when describing memorable times, I can only use “challenging and rewarding.” I’ve used those words before when saying goodbye to accounting classmates and Microsoft colleagues. These four months truly qualify as challenging and rewarding.
These past few months, I studied C++ again alongside everyone else. “Reviewing the old brings understanding of the new” — so true. While answering questions and interacting with everyone, I looked up many resources and read several books. My own understanding of C++ has deepened significantly. I learned things I didn’t know before becoming a TA. Though there were frustrating moments (my complaint post on BBS).
Although four months isn’t long, I could feel everyone’s enormous enthusiasm for learning C++. From the questions on BBS and the progress in homework assignments, I could see everyone’s rapid improvement. I’m genuinely happy for all of you.
In a few days, I’ll graduate. After that, I might intern at my graduate advisor’s company, return to Microsoft for another internship, or continue working on embedded projects at school — who knows… This September, I’ll start my graduate studies at Tongji’s Hudong campus (by then you should be at Anting). Two and a half years later, when you graduate and I graduate too, we might be competing for the same jobs.
If I have time, I’ll continue visiting our Q&A section. I hear some students are building a new homepage for the Software Institute, which will have its own Q&A section with much better functionality than the current BBS. I wonder if that’s true.
Finally, thank you to Professor Wan and Professor Zhou for trusting me. Thank you to the other TAs for their support. Thank you to all the students for your support.
Thanks
Best Regards Jason He
